Home modifications that could help seniors remain independent and safe:

  1. Widening doorways and hallways to provide wheelchair and walker access.

  2. Installing grab bars and non-slip surfaces in bathrooms.

  3. Lowering light switches, thermostats, and other controls to make them more accessible.

  4. Installing ramps to make entrances more accessible.

  5. Moving furniture to provide easier access for wheelchairs and walkers.

  6. Installing raised toilet seats.

  7. Installing lighting that is bright enough to help with navigation.

  8. Adding railings to stairs and hallways.
